Getting here from Santander and Bilbao

Cumbres de Lores is in Lores, a small village in the Palencia Mountains of Northern Spain, on the border with Cantabria. If you arrive by ferry or by plane through Santander or Bilbao, the house is reached by car.

The quickest route from the coast does not go through the Picos de Europa. It runs south on the A-67 to Aguilar de Campoo, then west to Cervera de Pisuerga and north to Lores.

Arriving by ferry

Ferries from the UK arrive in Santander and in Bilbao (Santurtzi). Routes and timetables change through the year, so check them directly with your ferry operator. From either port you can drive to the house the same day.

Arriving by air

Santander Airport is the closest, about 1 h 45 from the house. Bilbao Airport is about 2 h 40 away.

The last stretch to Lores

From Cervera de Pisuerga, the road climbs north through the valley to Lores. The house is in the village itself, and free street parking is available next to the house.

Arrival is self check-in from 4 pm with a smart key box, and departure is before 11 am. We send the instructions before your stay.

The house has fibre WiFi.

In winter

Roads to Lores are normally kept clear during winter, including after snowfall, but check the forecast and road conditions before travelling.

Picos de Europa as a day trip

Cumbres de Lores is not in the Picos de Europa, but the Liébana valley is an easy day out from the house:

• Potes: 44 km, about 1 hour, over the Piedrasluengas pass and its viewpoint.
• Fuente Dé, with its cable car into the Picos de Europa: 67 km, about 1 h 25.
